Software Engineer (Intern)
Roam is a business management platform for digital creatives. Our team is made up of three female founders, including an Ex-Meta creative director, and an ex-Veed engineer. We also have three design interns working on UI/UX. We are seeking the next addition to our team: a software engineering intern, who will work closely with our CTO to develop some major foundational work of our SaaS platform and prepare for the launch of our MVP.
Internship applicants should demonstrate the following before applying:
- Strong understanding of React is a must
- A thorough understanding of JavaScript
- Knowledge of HTML and CSS
- An interest in the inner-workings of a startup
Bonus points for:
- TypeScript experience
- Backend knowledge (Node.js and Express)
The intern will be working one-on-one with the CTO, an experienced software engineer. They will receive plenty of mentorship, both in regards to coding and general career guidance. By the end of the internship, the candidate should be able to demonstrate:
- A thorough understanding of React and TypeScript
- Real-world knowledge of the software development workflow (sprint planning, completing tickets, pull requests, code reviews, retrospectives)
- A basic understanding of writing unit tests
- Experience creating new API endpoints using Node and Express
- Knowledge of React Router, advanced hooks, styled-components, and Tailwind CSS
This is an unpaid position suitable for a post-secondary student currently in school, or a recent grad.
